Maybrat — The Director of the Mutiara Hitam Papua
Foundation, Fred Bundah, together with Ross Gobby representing Black Pearl
Network Australia, paid an official visit to the GKI Ayamaru Classis at GKI
Paulus Soroan Congregation on Monday, January 19, 2026. The visit aimed to
monitor the progress of the Black Pearl English Course (BPEC) Maybrat Program
as well as to strengthen coordination with the GKI Maybrat Classis in
developing English language education for children in the region.
The Chairman of the GKI Ayamaru Classis, Rev. Abraham
Semunya, S.Si., expressed full support for the sustainability of the BPEC
program. He emphasized the classis’ commitment to maintaining its partnership
with the Mutiara Hitam Papua Foundation and Black Pearl Network Australia so
that the program can continue to operate, reach more children, and provide a
positive impact on education in Maybrat Regency.
Similar support was also conveyed by the Chairperson of the
PHMJ of GKI Paulus Soroan, Rev. Carolina Maya Lulu, S.Th. She appreciated the
contribution of the Black Pearl English Course, which has been actively
teaching children within the GKI Paulus Soroan Congregation. According to her,
the presence of this program has strengthened the congregation’s awareness and
commitment to educating children as the golden generation of both the church
and the region.
In his remarks, Fred Bundah emphasized the importance of
English proficiency as a gateway to various educational and employment
opportunities. He explained that English language skills can help children in
Maybrat obtain scholarships, both domestically and abroad, as well as open up
job opportunities, particularly in the tourism sector.
“Through this program, we aim to help develop the potential
of children in Maybrat Regency so that they are ready to compete and contribute
to the development of their region,” said Fred Bundah.
The Black Pearl English Course (BPEC) program is expected to
continue growing as a means of improving the quality of human resources,
especially for children in the Southwest Papua region.
